Patricia Ward Kelly, the wife and biographer of the late, great Gene Kelly, has put together a terrific tribute show to her husband and taken it on the road. The show doesn’t just celebrate his career as an actor/singer/dancer, but also the contributions he made to the art of filmmaking. Many people are unaware of the numerous innovations that Gene contributed to the movie industry.
Now, you can hear all about it in person, as well as personal memories, and see wonderful clips that illustrate Patricia’s stories. She’s a compelling speaker, and it’s a fun and fascinating evening that I can’t recommend enough. Below are some of the upcoming dates, starting with New York, New York – a wonderful town:
July 9, 2014 at Symphony Space, New York City (Gene will be inducted into the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame on July 8). Click here for tickets.
September 29 and 30, 2014 at The Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach, California (check with the venue for tickets)
October 4, 2014 at Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, California (check with the venue for tickets)
January 18, 2015 at FilmPodium in Zurich, Switzerland (check with the venue for tickets)
If you aren’t in New York or California, don’t fret. Several other dates are in the works in the U.S. and abroad. To make sure you don’t miss Patricia when she comes to your area, subscribe at GeneKelly.com and “like” the Gene Kelly: The Legacy Facebook page. If you’re a fan of Gene’s or just a fan of filmmaking, you won’t want to miss this.
