Jane is in love with the Monster N-Tune Headphones, and to prove it, we're giving away sets to 25 lucky winners!Written by Jane Boursaw on October 4, 2013 at 12:45 am · 34 comments
When BlogHer approached me with an opportunity to review the NCredible N-Tune On-Ear Headphones by Monster®, I thought, yeah, that’s cool. I’m down for that.I was interested for a lot of reasons. My ancient headphones are pretty awful. When I’m plugged into my little TV to recap a show, there’s a constant undertone of static. And when I do podcasts, I have to keep my head tilted a certain way, otherwise the sound maniacally blanks out on me, leading my podcast buddies to wonder if I’ve gone out for coffee.
Sure, I thought, I’d love to try out the Monster headphones. I was not expecting to fall head over heels in love with them at first sight. I had no idea what I was missing out on!
The ones they sent me are Candy Green, but they come in all sorts of happy colors, including Candy Red, Candy Blue, Candy Tangerine, and Candy Purple.
Sure, I’m a geek girl, but my devices need to be super cute and stylish. These slick headphones have all that and a big bag of attitude.
My ancient headphones are downright frail compared to the durable, flexible design of the Monster headphones.
You’d never accidentally snap these in two if you bent them the wrong way. I doubt you could break them even if you ran over them with a car. They’re extremely lightweight, yet surprisingly indestructible.
I listen to a lot of music while I’m working, everything from Lady Gaga to Frank Sinatra to AC/DC. The sound is so good with these headphones, I feel like if I turned around, Frank would be there with his coat tossed over his shoulder, hat tipped to one side.
The bass tones are rich, and the overall sound is crisp and clear. Even if I’m in a crowd of people (i.e. my family in the living room), N-Tune HD’s noise isolation design keeps all external sounds out, while keeping all the music in.
Yeah, I still wear headbands. Got a problem with that? Me either. They’re cute and functional. The Monster headphones fit right over my ears, and they’re comfortable and soft. The over-the-head band feels nice on the top of my head. No headaches with these headphones.
Ok, not really, but I’m convinced that if we ever met, we’d be fast friends. He worked with Monster to design these headphones (that’s why they’re “NCredible” – get it?), so every time I wear them, it’s like hanging out with Nick Cannon.
I didn’t really know much about him until he started hosting “America’s Got Talent,” and suddenly, he’s my favorite TV host.
He says that before people go out on stage, he’s their cheerleader. When they come back, he’s their therapist.
Embedded deep in the soul of these headphones is Nick Cannon, my cheerleader and therapist.
The Monster N-Tune Headphones have a handy on-cable device called ControlTalk. What’s that mean?
Say I’m plugged into my iPhone while I’m working or taking a walk. A call comes in. There’s no panic, no trying to figure out how to unplug to get the call. Oh no, I just tap the little ControlTalk device, take the call, tap it again, start up the music. Easy-peasy.
A tangle-free cord may seem like a small thing, but I cannot tell you how many times I’ve searched for a cabled device in my suitcase-sized purse, only to come up with a giant mess of wire that takes me forever to untangle.
Tangle-free cables are a very big thing that make my day go smoother and protect my kids’ ears from excessive cursing.
Again, you might think a durable right-angle connector is a small, insignificant thing. Not so. Having that little right-angle connector means the cord is never in my way and won’t snap off at the drop of a hat. It’s the little things, people.
Yes, Christmas is barreling down the tracks at us, and these headphones make great gifts for, well, anyone really. Your mom or sister who listens to audiobooks, your dad or husband who listens to sports, your daughter who listens to Taylor Swift, your son who plays Minecraft with his friends online. Monster Headphones are great gifts for everyone.
Headphones can get pretty pricey, but these are very reasonably priced. If you wear them a lot like I do, and if you want all of the durability, style and function mentioned above, NCredible N-Tune On-Ear Headphones by Monster® are the way to go.
