Barry Bostwick from “Spin City” and “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and Harry Groener of “Dear John” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” have joined the cast of the upcoming indie “end of civilization road comedy” called “Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse.”
Written by and starring the award-winning comedy duo Gabriel Diani and Etta Devine, the project is a comedy in the spirit of the old Bob Hope and Bing Crosby “Road to…” movies, about two struggling comedians who discover that surviving the apocalypse is almost as difficult as surviving in Hollywood.
“I was in [Diani & Devine]’s first movie called ‘The Selling,’” Bostwick said. “It was brilliant, won a lot of awards. I had a great time with it, and they said I can be in this one … if I behave myself.” (See my interview with Barry Bostwick about another movie, “Finding Joy.”)
Groener was also in “The Selling,” which is now available on DVD and VOD. It won both the audience and jury awards at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival in 2011. Watch the trailer for “The Selling” below.
Others who will be in “Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse” include Armin Shimerman from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Kitty Swink from “Star Trek,” and Dawn Didawick from “Erin Brockovich.”
They’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the project. As of this writing, they’re nearly $18,000 toward their $100,000 goal … and counting. Check out their fun videos, which include “Apocatips for a Better End of the World.”
