Greg Schwem

Comedian Greg Schwem spent many years doing stand-up comedy in clubs around the country. Now, though, he is a “business humorist.” What is that? He performs his craft to Fortune 500 companies. Yes, he makes folks in suits laugh. And has a great time doing it.

1. Has being funny always come naturally to you or did you have to hone your craft somehow?

I would say it’s always been natural. That’s not saying you don’t hone your craft as a comedian, but I feel like I was always funny growing up.

2. Who in the comedy world most inspired you to get into this and why?

I think David Letterman inspired me, because he just made it look so easy. When I watched him on The Tonight Show, I never felt like he was trying, which is a compliment. I just felt like he was just a guy saying stuff that we were all thinking. He just made it funny, and that’s the approach I take in doing these business groups. I tell the audience I get paid to say what you all are thinking. That’s the approach I take for every show, and he’s really what did it for me.

3. If the story of your life were made into a movie, who would you want to portray you and why?

Who would I want to portray me? Wow. I have to think about that one. I would probably go with Matt Damon, because he just seems like a normal guy. He hasn’t let fame affect him, not that I have his fame. He has a family life. He stays out of the public eye. He just does his craft, goes home to his family, and has gone in a lot of different directions in his movies.
