Emma Watson Sheds Good Girl Image in The Bling Ring Trailer

The Bling Ring

Begone, Hermione! Emma Watson sheds her good-girl image in the new trailer for Sofia Coppola upcoming movie, The Bling Ring (not to be confused with the Lifetime movie of the same name – I’m already confused). She plays a teenage thief who steals from the rich and famous. I like it already.

The Bling Ring“The Bling Ring” is based on the real-life string of robberies that began in 2008, and continued for a year and a half before anyone was caught. That’s what the group of teenagers called themselves — the “Bling Ring” — and they ransacked real-life celebrity homes, including Paris Hilton’s, Lindsay Lohan’s, and Orlando Bloom’s, among others.

Emma Watson plays one of the teenagers who uses the Internet to figure out when stars will be away, leaving their homes open for shopping sprees. The teaser shows flashes of Watson’s character and her five friends trying on clothes in celebrity closets, partying in clubs, and flaunting their newly acquired bling on the streets of L.A.

But … every fun caper has a down side, right? In other words, they eventually get caught.

The movie also stars Taissa Farmiga, Erin Daniels, Halston Sage, Gavin Rossdale, Stacy Edwards, and Leslie Mann as Watson’s mom.

“The Bling Ring” hits theaters June 14, 2013 in limited release.

Sometimes I wonder, why do these child stars try so hard to look bad once they grow up?
