Cate Blanchett in Latex-Like Armani Prive

Celebrity fashionistas have a tough road. They can either play it safe and have everyone call them boring, or take a risk and get slammed by the media.

I’m not sure if I’m totally onboard this shiny Armani Prive gown (from their Spring 2009 collection) Cate Blanchett wore to the AACTA Awards in Australia this week, but I applaud her for going outside the box.

The dress, accented with shimmery sequins that gave it a latex-like sheen, featured a plunging neckline, structured cap sleeve shoulders and black trim. Blanchett accessorized with black heels and long black earrings, pulling her blonde hair into a bun with bangs swept to the side. Definitely sleek.

What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Well, her body certainly looks amazing in it. I do like it, I think, but then, I’m partial to red.

Yeah, hard to really mess up Cate Blanchett. She can pretty much wear anything and look great. But this dress has grown on me.
