Prince releases new single, Screwdriver
Prince, setting a new trend in metal shades

Is it ok to call him Prince again? Or does he still go by “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince”? Look, he’ll always be Prince to me, so that’s what I’m going to call him.

And he’s got a brand new single out that harks back to my favorite 80’s tunes of his, like “Raspberry Beret” and “U Got the Look” and “Let’s Go Crazy,” one of the hottest dance tunes ever written.

Released yesterday, “Screwdriver” is old school Prince, backed by guitarist Donna Grantis, drummer Hannah Ford, and bassist Ida Nielsen — the three women who make up Prince’s new band. The trio debuted last week at Minneapolis’ Dakota Jazz Club.

Prince will be honored at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, televised live on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Check out this cool Prince forum, too.

Are you a diehard Prince fan like me? What do you think of this new single?

LOL on that last riff – PURE PRINCE. I wish I’d been at the Dakota that night! I remember seeing him at the Target center in downtown Mpls, years ago. WOnderful!

Hmmm… not as funky as I’d like and a little bit more “bubble gum” than he used to do. It’s fun, though.
