HBO is a great network with an impressive slate of shows, but one of the things we really love is their willingness to provide tantalizing information about what’s ahead.

Game of Thrones” Season 3 premieres March 31, 2013, and HBO is already rolling out some tidbits. The video below takes a look inside the sprawling production, including interviews with the cast and crew.

Lena Heady and Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones

As with seasons one and two, the video confirms breathtaking backdrops that include Ireland, Iceland, and Morocco. Also this:

  • Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) chats with Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer).
  • Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) sports a nasty facial scar he brought back from the Battle of Blackwater Bay.
  • Robb Stark (Richard Madden) has issues talking with his mother, Catelyn (Michelle Fairley).
  • Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) looks to be in the market for the slave soldiers known as the Unsullied.

Look for new characters who longtime fans of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels. Notable, Ciarán Hinds (“Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy”) as Mance Rayder, the fearsome King Beyond the Wall.

The preview also contains looks at Jojen Reed (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), the burning sword-wielding Baeric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), slave-turned-handmaiden Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), and Lady Olenna Tyrell – also known as the Queen of Thorns (Diana Rigg).
