Trailer Talk: Beautiful Creatures is Dark, Dreamy, Supernatural

Beautiful Creatures
Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert of Beautiful Creatures | Warner Bros.

Beautiful Creatures” lands in theaters Feb. 14, 2013. It’s a Valentine story with a dark twist.

A supernatural love story set in the South, “Beautiful Creatures” tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl.

Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. It sounds dark and dreamy. And what a great cast, including Emma Thompson with a southern accent and Jeremy Irons being … awesome Jeremy Irons.

Based on the novel by Kami Garcia, “Beautiful Creatures” is directed by Richard LaGravenese (he wrote the screenplay for “Water for Elephants”) and also stars Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson and Viola Davis. It’s rated PG-13 for violence, scary images and some sexual material.
