Here’s a quick rundown on ratings for movies debuting in theaters this week:

  • Amour: PG-13 for mature thematic material including a disturbing act, and for brief language.
  • Cirque Du Soleil – Worlds Away: PG for some dramatic images and mild sensuality.
  • The Guilt Trip: PG-13 for language and some risque material.
  • The Impossible: PG-13 for intense realistic disaster sequences, including disturbing injury images and brief nudity.
  • Jack Reacher – One Shot: PG-13 for violence, language and some drug material.
  • Monsters, Inc.: Rated G.
  • Not Fade Away: R for pervasive language, some drug use and sexual content.
  • On The Road: R for strong sexual content, drug use and language.
  • This Is 40: Rated R for sexual content, crude humor, pervasive language and some drug material.
  • Zero Dark Thirty: Rated R for strong violence including brutal disturbing images, and for language.

Ratings for Other Recently Released Movies: 

  • Any Day Now: Rated R for sexual content, language and some drug use.
  • The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey: Rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, and frightening images.
  • Save The Date: Rated R for sexual content, language and brief drug use.

RATINGS GUIDE:

G – GENERAL AUDIENCES (All Ages Admitted)
PG – PARENTAL GUIDANCE SUGGESTED (Some Material May Not Be Suitable for Children)
PG-13 – PARENTS STRONGLY CAUTIONED (Some Material May Be Inappropriate for Children Under 13)
R – RESTRICTED (Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian)
NC-17 – NO ONE 17 AND UNDER ADMITTED
