First Look at Tom Hardy as Mad Max

This morning we got our first look — sort of through the back door of the web — at Tom Hardy as Mad Max. The actor is playing Max Rockatansky in Mad Max 4: Fury Road. The part, of course, was originated by Mel Gibson in the three earlier Ozploitation films.

According to Indie Wire, the Warner Bros. has confirmed that this is indeed an image taken from George Miller’s film, which wrapped shooting on Monday. Apparently, this signed picture was something Hardy gave to the crew as a parting gift on set.

“It was an amazing experience. It’s a big, live-action, fully articulated stunts piece, which picks up where we left off with the Mel Gibson’s Mad Max and takes it to the next level,” he told the Belfast Telegraph.

Mad Max 4: Fury Road is scheduled for a 2014 release in 3D. George Miller helmed the first three Mad Max movies, too.

  1. This is one film I am looking forward to. Just a shame Mel Gibson isn’t gonna be part of it. :(
