‘The Wolfman’ director talks ‘Captain America,’ Jurassic 4′

the_wolfman_poster“The Wolfman” will be menacing theater-goers on February 12, 2010, but director Joe Johnson is already talking about his next film, “The First Avenger: Captain America.”

He says it’s not going to be the Captain America that you expect. It’s influenced by the comic book, but apparently goes off in a very different direction.

“It’s basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America,” said Johnston. “The great thing about Captain America is he’s a superhero without any super powers. Which is why this story, among the hundreds of superhero stories, appealed to me the most. He can’t fly, he can’t see through walls, he can’t do any of that stuff. He’s an every man who’s been given this amazing gift of transformation into the perfect specimen—the pinnacle of human perfection.”

And it seems like that’s the sort of story that will appeal to audiences, too. That even the most normal person can be a superhero.

Johnston also said there WILL be a “Jurassic Park IV,” and it will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. “It breaks away from the first three — it’s essentially the beginning of the second ‘Jurassic Park’ trilogy,” he said. “That’s pretty much all I can tell you.”

It makes you wonder if they’ll go back to the very beginning of the franchise, so that we can see how the Park came into being and who the masterminds were behind it. That would be a great story to tell.
